Well, its assignment week, as it is assesment week. Really was bz… but still had time to go bowling, n attending d george benson n al-jaero conference on sun. I wasn’t a really hard core fan of them, but still they were really cool and talented, n yea, d fact is, jazz is not really a good business as compared to rock/pop/rnb. N wow, when they gave a guest performance, it was fascinating…bet every1 was awed.
As for the past few days, tension really kicked in. Frequent arguments, stemming from d silliest things gave us a real headache. Pray to god this wouldn’t happen in future…if so, not so often n intense. But, at least we make up for it. N finally, d house is clean!!!
I have completed my contemporary assignment. Yay. That’s 1, n d other half is aural in ear training 4. D other half, is dictation, this wed. N lastly wud b malaysian music history…Can’t wait. After that, there will b a trip to genting, then back to ipoh! Looking forward to it. And yea….hopefully i will get a doggie…dat wud really b d best thing eva.
Gotta start on my performance song as well. In 3 weeks time…seems far but not so… Enough of studies anyway, (haha, music=studies??) din sleep well yest. Gonna dose off now. Nitez and all d best every1. Gambate.
Hehe, still figuring out what lies beyond the title above? Well, its something that occured when we were in Penang… Putting that aside first, hmm… yeah, we were at penang sat morning. Started d journey around 4.30am, n before we even step out of kl, i took a wrong turn already. Here goes…. Haha, driving was never this fun. All d wrong turnings, speeding…(i din go past 130km/h, really) that took us like 4 hrs++. By 8 stg am, we were in d island, finding a place to put up 1 nite. Luck was not on our side though.
From Grand Continental, to Heritage Hotel, we were unable to get a room. Millions of calls to other hotels were to no avail. All fully booked. Anything happening there? Couldn’t b everyone is going for d Gegar U thingy… Finnaly, called Yu Ju, our penangite fren, n she got us a decent, service hotel, at rm80 per room (plus 2 xtra bed for 5 of us) Thanks alot U Ju!!! Had brunch nearby… n slept till it was 5pm.
Being recharged, we went to gurney drive. D idea at first was to take a cab or bus to gegar u in PISA, but we din noe how or how much is it, so again…we had to drive. Great, at least d food in gurney drive was nice. Ate asam laksa, muar chi, a lil kuay teow n some fried seafood. Wah… so much better than kl, no offense.
Driving there was another prob. took several wrong turns n this time, tanne drove. Hehe, i wasn’t really a good map reader, sorry… But neway after going round n round the same road, we made it in time to c… d numerous speeches. At that time, we wished we got lost a lil longer. =P well, with sum patience, we finnaly saw d icom band performing with Tanne’s bf..he really Rocked!! (though he sang a kinda malay folk song). D coolest performance i find though, is from d gegar u winner band, The Wishing Wells, with their song, Wishing Well. Its a progressive symphonic rock. D singer nailed d highs n d guitarist was really shredding smoothly.(plus, he resembles dan in sum ways…hehe) This band is from Sabah.
Now dis is where things get sneaky. We met Tanne’s bf after his performance, n the band was goin to a seafood restaurant opposite Gurney drive, n he wasn’t allowed to cum wit us, so we waited 4 him in gurney drive. Ate beancurd with laici, n sumseafood, again. Den, later, he sed he has to go back to d hotel. He wasn’t allowed to come with us, in which d initial plan was to go batu ferringhi. So, we taught of picking him up in his hotel, but din really noe where it was. So, we stalked d bus. It was raining and, i tried to get as close to the bus as possible. Bad move though.
Later, we noticed d bus doin lots of fishy things, last minute turns n finally reached a road where there was no cars other than us and d bus. Suddenly at d T-junction, d bus stopped. Oh, no…..we were like all nervous n thinking whether we were spotted….then, it started reversing. We were just behind it, so i had to reverse as well. But it din stop n was getting closer. So, i decided to turn back to d road we were at before. Then, we went opposite directions with d bus… great….pursuit failed??
It was then when i remembered, when we were about to follow d bus, we were close to this sports car, that was kinda moving at d same time with d bus, mayb that was 1 of d icom lecturers whod spotted us… Well, it was really thrilling n every1 was wide awake, though it is past midnite. So…later, tanne’s bf called, sternly warning us not to follow so closely, as the bus had no back sensors..n after a few wrong turns, we reached century bay hotel. Waited there, hoping that he would b able to follow us, but because he wasn’t allowed to, he stayed. Plan failed, again. Haih, worse is that sum icomians are allowed to go clubbing every nite of their stay, why not him going to Batu Ferringhi? Sum mishaps happened before, that explains why…
Well, went back to our hotel, dissapointed. I just slept as i hit d bed. D next day, we woke up a lil late. Checked out just in time n headed to Komtar. We were looking for a very famous nasi kandar stall, but made do with 1 we saw further down d street. Wasn’t dat bad for me, though sum find d meat a lil tough. Den….as we walked back to komtar, we found d famous nasi kandar stall, Mutiara restaurant if i m not mistaken, just opposite komtar. =S Well, at least we get to shop. Bought so many things, acessories, clothes, snacks, Ps games, Apple stuffs…
We made a move at ard 8pm. Dis time, took a ferry ride. Watched 28 days later in d car, n Tanne drove till we reached sg. Perak. D funniest thing is, d laptop died as we were watching d climax… what a setback. Nevermind, there is a spare one in d boot. Stopped for super late dinner n managed to charge d laptop at d stop, for free =P We found out lots of interesting stuffs about ourselves n Tanne there… n chatted till 12 ++ am.
After that, i took over d wheels n we reached kl around 3 am. So tired till i just went ti bed straight n sleep. Well, thats really a cool way to spend d weekends. Heh, n after a few days of cat naps only, i think i shud catch up on my sleep… Signing off.
Hopefully this friday i will get to go to penang. Its actually for d gegar u thingy..in batu ferringhi. This gegar u is kinda like a competition among music bands in several universities, touring/performing around MAlaysia. This covers even East Mal. This event we r attending is d finale of the event.. held this saturday.. Coz Tanne has an apartment there, so she’ll try to get a place there. If not, we will b stayin in a hotel. Cool huh. And, to make things even better, i might b driving! Haha, b prepared guys…
Hmm…looking forward to the good food…n beaches. Yay! N yea, this fri will b wendy n daniel’s friday performance, in which i m playing as well. Almost done,except that for dan’s performance i m a lil scared… The piano parts r hard. But, just wishing them all d best, n i dun wanna screw their performance..pls not..
Ah… ratatouille is coming out…izit today or tmr? Neways, watching it tmr. Looks kinda nice. Other movies i’ve watched were die hard 4..0 n Rush hour 3. The latter was really nice, hillarious n exciting. I kinda regret not watching the prev rush hours…

Hmm.. again, much has happened till today. Yeah, there are good things n bad things. Lets start with… d bad 1st. Just yesterday, i was at dans place. We were about to go to carreffour, n dan wanted to test his alarm system. He set d alarm on, then try to off it by typing d password. But it didn’t work. Don’t know why…. but after a few failures, he just opened the door, n triggered d alarm. Luckly it wasn’t late at nite, so we barrred d alarm noise… (really LOUD) till d neighbours came rushing, asking what went wrong. Afew calls to d alarm company, his dad n uncle, then it stopped. But d alarm was still set on. So if we close/open d door d alarm will go on again. Then he received a call from d company, saying that the password maybe reset. True, as his house had many electricity cuts while we were at our hometown. So, it finaly worked. All in all, 1 hour was wasted.
Haha, now to d good news…. I participated in a treasure hunt organised by my fren, silas’s youth, the Stamped Youth Ministry. It was really fun, and we had to hunt the craziest, impossible things. Like, find coins from 1987 or get an i-phone, or even take a group photo with a nun. Well, we used our creativity, n among the funniest things we did was to ‘walk on water’. Haha, dan suggested to spray lots of water on d ground…n walk on it. N also, d grosses things, to create the worst ice cream flavour. Imagine…. pee on ice cream? But all our efforts brought us to victory!! Yay! and the prize was… Dunkin doughnuts, chocolates n twisties! Of course it was soo much food that we decided to share with the others. That was really a fullfilling day.
I have also completed n handed my first contemporary project. To compose n sequence d song. This time i was satisfied with my composition, doesn’t sound lost nemore. But my sequence was not so good. Again, dans place was where some of them bunked in for their projects. Haha, Jeevan….u still owe me n dan 1…. =P
Also, i got lots of new stuff. Got a sustain pedal for my synthesiser. And getting a headphone with noise reducing properties… Cool huh? By the way, ne1 know where to get fate/stay night anime around kl? I have yet to get it… Got princess hours though.

It has been two weeks ++ since i have been back in kl. Many things have happened though. To my horror, my fees was rm3500 more and not only for this sem, but the following semester also. Great, no thanks to d valodation fee to westminster, which is not stated in the course fees during orientation. Haha, good trick they have there. Well, hopefully it is all put to good use. And, this sem is rather laid back. With all lecturers teaching us this sem, are known to b vv vv nice… no more stress during ear training. “Yay. N its only 4 subjects. U can even sleep openly in malaysian music history class. What more can u ask for?
Hmm…watched harry porter n transformers. The former was rather a set back, din really enjoyed it. But the latter…this one we watched back at home..hehe i fell asleep. But, i will definitely watch it again. Dis time in the afternoon… =P
Also, i had a really stupid 1-day-of-independance… being single..haha. Not bad..but, rather too short. Till now we still laugh thinking bout it. Lets not talk further abt that. My nightmares these days are getting bad. Imagine frens turning into zombies that wanna kill, after watching 28 weeks later. Or smiley faces turning into large spherical devils haunting u..n much more. What makes it worse is that the images linger on even when my eyes are open. Like, when i wake up, i stil see images of an orange-haired ghost to my left. Anyone know why this happens?
What else happened? Oh, went to my friends gig near subang..haha all bands except them played hard core rock, metal.. but it was enjoyable. And yeah, i got a new synthesiser!!!! Hurray!! And old model though, juno-D. But sufficient enuf for my usage. For ur info, a synth is a keyboard with effects and where u can create ur own custom sound. But d downside is it does not have an internal speaker. Meaning u must attach it to a monitor/speaker/amp/headphone to get its output. Still in the progress of figuring out how to change sounds, etc.
Well that summarises my 2++week stay in kl. Oh yea, this sem ICOM, my coll is doing a tribute to siti nurhaliza. Its date is not set, prob end sept- early oct. And, my performance is around 9 weeks from now. Gotta get prepared. So long, Tata.

It has already been a month since i am back in ipoh… Time really flies, something i din expect as i thought having nothing to do during sem break slows down time. Guess i was wrong. In 5 days time, i will b back in kl, back to coll life, back to the usual routine of attending classes, meeting friends, assignments, assesments, etc. Btw, i m thinking of taking up tutoring as a part-time-job.. Hopefully i can manage..
Dread getting back to studies, though i yearn to see my coll-mates.. The only reasons y i want to go back kl=friends n more movie options. Reasons NOT to go kl=food, ASTRO, get to laze..etc. Anyhow, most of my ipoh frens are about to leave as well, to uni. Well, congrats to those who get what they want or enter good public unis. Looking at them, i think i m d oni 1 doin a totally different course, not related to my 12 years of school studies, at all. Is that something good, or not?
Well, guess this 1 month is filled with outing with schoolmates, savouring good ipoh food, Animax, n getting to do nothing the whole day. Really gonna miss that.. guess i have to wait another 6 months. N yea, congrats to my bro who had graduated from KTAR. N happy finding a job… =P
Haha, thx 4 adding me Carol, i dun mind.. Btw, how r u in brisbane? Hope u r doin fine, n really miss u… =C N Theng Wai, dun worry lar, longer duration of studies = more uni life. Enjoy it while u can.. Once u work, u cannot get it back gela.. All the best wor..n tell me when u r coming back.

It has been 1 week ++ since i hav been back in ipoh… n sad to say i m already really bored. Though i get to relax n watch animax, sumthing is still missing. But it wasn’t all dat bad. 1 thing is, food is imcomparable to kl’s expensive food. Of coz, ipoh’s better. N i hav been hanging out with my cuzs which i haven’t c in a long while. Yea, lc, GET WELL SOON!! Must watch ocean’s 13 2gether.
Oh, my bro’s convo is cmg dis fri…so another trip to kl. Well, wonder when will it b my turn..3 years from now..so faraway. Well, other than dat, nothing much will b happening this whole month. Haha, shud brush up on my culinary n sequencing skills.

Just finished my acoustics finals…which means i have completed 3 exams, being Malaysian Studies, Moral Studies and Acoustics. Hurray!!! In half-an-hours time, i shall b practicing for my final performance studies exams…where we have to present 5 songs in a band..evaluated by lecturers. And in around 5 hours, i m FREE!!!
And well, tomorrow, off to ipoh i will be! Finally, 1 month of rest, time to laze and hmm…mayb i will go on a vacation. Any ideas where?
Ooh, must watch shrek 3…out today. Last movie watched was Pirates of Carribean, which to me was really nice, but i missed out on the 2nd episode, so just a little blur in the beginning. And tickets were free, as dan won a fear factor competition in a youth meeting few weeks ago. Imagine blended burger king, fries, milk and soya sauce… Wonder how he gulps it all up.

The rush to miri straight from my 2nd Friday performance was worth it. This time, at least my performance was better..much better. Flight scheduled at 7pm, and the jazz fest starts like half an hour after 7pm.. Too bad we missed the 1st half of the fest. Friday nite was cool, with bands like Habanas, Luis Coloma n others, i forgot their names..performong blues and jazz in Park Everly Hotel, Miri. The jazz fest is on fri and sat, 7-1am.
When i just reached, with Daniel, we met his frens, and Alvin who took the same flight as us. There were food stalls, Coffee Bean stand, and many beer stands…not my type of drink though, too bad. Back to the festival, it was held in the pavillion and the exterior, which is like a park. It was kinda crowded, with ppl drinking, eating, dancing and since the bands perform inside the pavillion and outside the park(a stage built there), in turns, we have to walk in n out like every half-an-hour to catch the performance. If we are lucky we can get a seat near the large projector screens, where we need not travel back and forth.
I find friday much better than saturday, thanks to Luis Coloma. They really had some great tunes stuck in my head for quite some time. I even tried to record it, but to no avail. There was more noise than music( the ppl talking and background noise). But i can’t comment much, as i am not a big fan of jazz. Its really hard to jazz, and the chord progressions…ok i better not get into that. Saturday had more slow jazz and though there were more familiar tunes like summertime, spain, and rio funk, i still prefer friday. There were bands with all acoustic inst, featuring a violinist who really can sing, brass bands, with tuba replacing bass and well d typical, piano, guitar, bass n drums band. I oso got to know Dan’s ’sister’ Amanda and also finally got to meet Grace.
Hearing to much jazz wasn’t good… starting to envy how those guys improvise and play those really nice voicings.. Well thats all for jazz, back to kl tomorrow..chaoz.
